SweetF1: It's Been Emotional

We stank in 2009: Do Zobaczenia, Toodle Pip, HeiHei

It's with a heavy heart and a sad face that we bid farewell to our readers for 2009.

We'll be back in February 2010.

It'll be a cracking season and we'll be bringing our expert technical analysis to every race.

We'll also be using the time to prepare SweetF1's entry to the grid for next season.

That's right, we've begun testing and here's a glimpse of the SF2010 at our test facility in Moldova.

BUTTON: Deserves to Be Champion

Jenson Button: Finished A Head

JENSON Alexander Lyons Button (yep, that's really his full name) is our new World Champion.

From across the paddock accolades have poured into SweetF1... here's a selection of some of the best tributes:

- "He really deserves to be champion, he really does"
- "I wouldn't knock him for barely winning a race in the second half of the season - he really deserves it."
- "Gotta hand it to that Jenson, there's no doubt he's earned it. You can't say he isn't world championship material, because he is."
- "It's a popular victory. Sure Alonso has a few fans, so does Hamilton. Some think Kimi's still got it. But the record books show J. Button. Can't take it away from him."
- He was pretty much written off as a B-Grader at the end of last season. Then a quirk of the rules gave him the quickest car. Now he's World Champion. He deserves it. It's a popular victory.
- Is it just me, or has anyone ever seen him in the same room as Jacques Villeneuve?

SweetF1 Exclusive: First Abu Dhabi on-board footage revealed

Yas Marina: Pit lane exit inspired by your local Tesco's carpark exit ramp.

Concrete and tarmac as far as the eye can see. A succession of 2nd and 3rd gear corners. Point and squirt chicanes, all framed by jaw-dropping 21st century architecture - that's right, it's F1 in 2009, it's Yas Marina and it's another insipid Tilke designed track, no matter which way you dress it.

Enjoy.

F1 Season 2009: Who Hairs Wins

IT'S a poorly kept secret in paddock circles, but it's a fact the F1 establishment is frightened to acknowledge publicly.
Season 2009 is a battle of the beards.
For the first time in F1 history, two bearded men - Button and Barrichello - are vying for the title.
And never before have there been so many bearded pretenders to the crown.
Hirsute young Turks such as Heidfeld and the occasional sneaky goatee of Felipe Massa have thrilled crowds this season.
In honour of these hairy heroes, sit back relax and stroke your chin-whiskers to Sweet F1's tribute to the furry beasts of F1.

Piquet Overlooked For Nobel Peace Prize

CONTEMPLATING : Pick-up Racing is kinda like F1... isn't it?

NELSON Piquet Jnr says he remains determined to win a Nobel Peace Prize despite being overlooked by the judges this year.
Piquet said: "In other championships I've always been very peaceful - the peaciest peace guy on the track.
"I just haven't been given the opportunity to show how peacey I can be. It's still my dream to win the Nobel Peace Prize.
"I haven't lost any of my race peace... I just need another go, please?"
